Sprouted Tur Dal – Sambar Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Sprouted Tur Dal
  • Red Chilli Powder
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Hing Powder
  • Mustard Seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil

Cooking Steps:

  • Wash 1 cup of Sprouted Tur Dal thoroughly.
  • Pressure cook with 2.5 cups of water and turmeric powder for 3–4 whistles until soft and mushy.
  • In a small pan, heat 1 tbsp oil.
  • Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add a pinch of Pure Wheat Hing Powder and sauté for a few seconds.
  • To the cooked dal, add red chilli powder, salt, and cooked/optional chopped vegetables.
  • Add tamarind pulp if you prefer a tangy flavor.
  • Pour the tempering into the dal mixture.
  • Let everything simmer for 10–15 minutes until flavors blend well.
  • Add water if the sambar is too thick. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander if desired.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice, idli, dosa, or pongal.
