July_24 Highlights at Kaadu Organics: A Month of Harvests and Care

Aricultural practices:July was a busy month across Kaadu Organics farms in Kodaikanal and Tirunelveli. From harvesting fruits to planting new crops, each day presented fresh tasks and opportunities for growth.

Here’s a glimpse into the work and care that went into nurturing our produce.

Coffee, Pepper and Chilli: From Farm to Warehouse

Freshly harvested coffee beans from Kodaikanal were brought to our Tirunelveli farm for cleaning and packing before being sent to the warehouse. Pepper and chilli underwent a similar process—cleaned, dried, and packed with special attention to chilli quality during drying.

Fruit Harvests & Field Maintenance

Bananas, mangoes, and oranges were carefully harvested, packed, and delivered fresh to local markets.

We finished weeding in Field 3 for the turmeric and fruit trees, and mulching helped keep the soil rich and the crops thriving. We also treated ginger, turmeric, and fruit trees for pests, while adding natural manure and gypsum to nourish the turmeric plants.

Planting and Pruning

We planted air-layered plants and dug new pits for fruit trees. The mango trees were pruned, and the shredded branches contributed to soil health. We also removed banana suckers and planted coconut seedlings in Field 6.

Extraction and Fertigation

We extracted cucumber seeds and set them out to dry. Driplines were cleared in preparation for ploughing, while fertigation in fields 1, 2, 3, and 4 provided essential nutrients for healthy growth. Additionally, we set 45 coconuts to germinate.
