Description
Karuppu Kavuni Rice Flakes (Poha/ red poha) is a Traditional rice, “Karuppu Kavuni” gets its name from black glutinous rice. It’s a dark-colored with a rich, slightly nutty flavor. “Aval” is a term used to describe flattened rice flakes that are used in a variety of Indian and South Asian recipes.
In Telugu, we call it atukulu.
How to use
Kavuni Aval Upma (Quick Recipe)
Ingredients
- 1 cup karuppu kavuni aval
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1 green chilli
- Mustard seeds
- Curry leaves
- Salt as needed
- Oil
How to Prepare
- Rinse aval lightly and keep aside
- Heat oil, add mustard seeds and curry leaves
- Add onion and green chilli, sauté lightly
- Add aval and salt
- Mix gently and cook for 2–3 minutes
- Serve hot
