Idiyappam / String hoppers / Nool Puttu

Red rice idiyappam flour, also known as string hoppers or Nool Puttu made from red rice, can prepare variation of traditional string hoppers. They also refer to it as Samba Puttu in Kerala.

This steamed tube puttu along with Nendran Banana, Green Moong Dal and Pappad is a must try healthy breakfast.

Compared to white rice, red rice is a healthier option. This is a result of its abundance of essential nutrients. The health advantages of red rice are quite amazing.

How to make Idiyappam / string hoppers?

• Mix red rice flour with hot water, form a flexible dough, shape it into thin noodles, and steam them.
• Because of the red rice, the finished product has an unusual reddish-brown hue and a slightly nuttier flavor.

With the addition of palm jaggery or cane jaggery to red rice flour, we may make the delicious sweet Kozhukkattai. This highly favored rice flour is also possible to use to make Sweet / Kaara Kozhukkattai.
