Agricultural practices
At Kaadu Organics, our dedication to sustainable agricultural practices drives every seed we sow and every harvest we gather. As a key player in the agricultural sector, we emphasize the importance of organic agriculture, showcasing its benefits through diverse agriculture types of farming. November was a month of both challenges and rewards, reflecting the dynamic nature of organic farming in India. Here’s a glimpse into the farm activities that defined our journey this month.
Tirunelveli Farm
Black Turmeric & Lakadong Turmeric
This month’s highlight was the harvest of black and Lakadong turmeric. The black turmeric harvest, though premature, offered invaluable insights into improving our processes. To promote sustainable agriculture, we shared black turmeric rhizomes with farmers across Tamil Nadu, reinforcing the importance of organic agriculture and collaboration within the agricultural sector.
Both rhizomes are now available as organic products on our website, inviting customers to experience their medicinal richness.
Dal Planting:
Fields 5 and 8 saw the sowing of moong dal and urad dal, showcasing our focus on diverse agriculture types of farming. However, continuous rain paused the work.
Turmeric and Ginger: Maintaining Health Through Weeding
Weeding in fields 1 and 2, where turmeric and ginger are planted, was crucial to creating a healthy growing environment. This regular maintenance, a fundamental agricultural practice, ensures crops thrive even under challenging weather conditions.
Coconut Harvest
The coconut harvest yielded only one bunch this month, reflecting the unpredictability of organic farming. However, the quality of the coconuts was impressive, underscoring the impact of sustainable farming methods on crop health and output.
Kodaikanal Farm
Coffee Harvest: Ensuring Bean Quality
The third round of coffee harvesting focused exclusively on ripe fruits, demonstrating the importance of precision in agricultural practices. This meticulous approach guarantees a superior coffee experience, making it one of our most cherished organic products.
Tree Planting: Strengthening Our Green Commitment
As part of our efforts to diversify the agricultural sector, we received 800 mahogany and rosewood saplings (locally known as Et or Thothakathi). Despite challenges like rain and labor shortages, we successfully planted 120 saplings and are committed to completing the task.
Pepper Vines: Nurturing for the Future
Fifty pepper vines received focused care this month, with enriched soil and strengthened shoots ensuring a robust future harvest. This effort highlights the long-term benefits of sustainable agriculture types of farming.
Construction Progress
Work on the foundation basement advanced steadily, bringing us closer to expanding our farm’s infrastructure for greater efficiency.
This development aligns with our mission to improve efficiency in organic farming practices in India.
