South Indian Kara Chutney, a fiery, flavorful chutney made using Kaadu Organics natural ingredients. Perfect as a side dish for idli, dosa, pongal, or curd rice—this chutney brings heat and heart to your plate.

Ingredients

For the Kara Chutney:

  • 2 medium onions, roughly chopped
  • 4–5 garlic cloves
  • 5–6 dried red chillies (adjust to taste)
  • Himalayan Rock Salt, to taste

For Tempering (Thalipu):

  • 2 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds (Kadugu)
  • 1 tsp Urad Dal
  • A few fresh curry leaves

Preparation

  1. Grind the Chutney Base:
In a mixie jar, add chopped onions, garlic, red chillies, and Himalayan Rock Salt. Grind into a smooth paste. This forms the spicy base of your kara chutney.
  2. Temper for Flavor:
In a small pan, heat Sesame Oil. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves. Let them splutter until aromatic.
  3. Mix & Serve:
Add the tempering (thalipu) to the ground chutney and mix well. Your spicy kara chutney is ready!
