South Indian Kara Chutney, a fiery, flavorful chutney made using Kaadu Organics natural ingredients. Perfect as a side dish for idli, dosa, pongal, or curd rice—this chutney brings heat and heart to your plate.
Ingredients
For the Kara Chutney:
- 2 medium onions, roughly chopped
- 4–5 garlic cloves
- 5–6 dried red chillies (adjust to taste)
- Himalayan Rock Salt, to taste
For Tempering (Thalipu):
- 2 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds (Kadugu)
- 1 tsp Urad Dal
- A few fresh curry leaves
Preparation
- Grind the Chutney Base:
In a mixie jar, add chopped onions, garlic, red chillies, and Himalayan Rock Salt. Grind into a smooth paste. This forms the spicy base of your kara chutney. - Temper for Flavor:
In a small pan, heat Sesame Oil. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves. Let them splutter until aromatic. - Mix & Serve:
Add the tempering (thalipu) to the ground chutney and mix well. Your spicy kara chutney is ready!
