How to Make Foxtail Millet Upma
- Rinse 1 cup of Kaadu Foxtail Millet thoroughly and soak for 10–15 minutes.
- In a pressure cooker, heat 1 tbsp ghee.
- Add 1 tsp cumin seeds and a few curry leaves, and sauté briefly.
- Add the rinsed millet, salt to taste, and ¼ tsp turmeric powder.
- Pour in 2.5 cups of water, close the lid, and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
- Let the pressure release naturally.
- In a separate pan, heat 1 tsp ghee.
- Add chopped vegetables and sauté for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender.
- Add the boiled foxtail millet to the pan and mix gently.
- Cook on a low flame for 5 to 10 minutes, allowing flavors to blend.
- Garnish with roasted peanuts and serve hot.
Serving Tips
- Enjoy with curd, pickle, or a dash of lemon juice.
- Great for lunchboxes, light dinners, or post-workout meals.
