 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Kaadu Puttu Flour
  • 2–3 tbsp Grated Coconut
  • A pinch of Salt
  • Water – as needed
  • Kaadu Residual-Free Cane Jaggery (optional, for sweet version)

How to Make Kerala Puttu (Step-by-Step):

  1. Take 1 cup of Kaadu Puttu Flour in a wide mixing plate.
  2. Add a pinch of salt and sprinkle water little by little.
  3. Mix gently using your fingers until the flour reaches a moist, crumbly texture (like wet sand).
  4. Let it rest for 30 minutes, covered with a damp cloth.
  5. In a puttu maker, start layering:
    1. First layer: 1 tbsp grated coconutSecond layer: puttu mix
    1. Repeat till filled, ending with coconut
  6. Steam on medium flame for 7–10 minutes or until you get a soft, fluffy texture.
  7. Serve hot with kadala curry, banana and jaggery, or sugar & ghee.
