Ingredients:
- 1 cup Kaadu Puttu Flour
- 2–3 tbsp Grated Coconut
- A pinch of Salt
- Water – as needed
- Kaadu Residual-Free Cane Jaggery (optional, for sweet version)
How to Make Kerala Puttu (Step-by-Step):
- Take 1 cup of Kaadu Puttu Flour in a wide mixing plate.
- Add a pinch of salt and sprinkle water little by little.
- Mix gently using your fingers until the flour reaches a moist, crumbly texture (like wet sand).
- Let it rest for 30 minutes, covered with a damp cloth.
- In a puttu maker, start layering:
- First layer: 1 tbsp grated coconutSecond layer: puttu mix
- Repeat till filled, ending with coconut
- Steam on medium flame for 7–10 minutes or until you get a soft, fluffy texture.
- Serve hot with kadala curry, banana and jaggery, or sugar & ghee.
