Making Halwa
A rich and nourishing sweet, Ulunthu Maavu Halwa is a traditional South Indian delicacy made from roasted urad dal flour, also known as kali maavu. This halwa is packed with flavor and nutrition, making it a perfect snack or dessert for all ages.
Ingredients
- Urad Dal Kali Maavu – 1 cup
- Jaggery Powder – 1 cup
- Ghee – 1 cup
- Water – 1½ cups
Making Halwa with Urad Dal Flour
- In a pan, melt the jaggery powder with water and strain to remove any impurities.
- In a separate pan, add ghee and roast the urad dal flour on low flame until it releases a nutty aroma.
- Slowly add the jaggery syrup to the roasted flour while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Keep stirring until the halwa thickens and ghee starts separating from the mixture.
- Once it reaches the desired consistency, turn off the heat and serve warm.
