An Authentic Western Odia Sweet Delicacy
Made with love using Jaggery Powder & Moong Dal
Ingredients:
- 1 cup yellow moong dal
- A pinch of salt
- Oil for deep frying
- 2 cups water
- 2–3 green cardamoms
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 cup Kaadu Organics Jaggery Powder
Recipe:
- Soak the yellow moong dal in water for 5–6 hours.
- Drain and grind it into a smooth paste without adding any water. Add a pinch of salt to the batter.
- Shape the batter into small vadas using your hands or a spoon.
- Deep-fry the vadas in hot oil until they turn golden and crisp.
- In a separate pan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add cardamoms and a bay leaf for flavor.
- Stir in 1 cup of Kaadu Organics Jaggery Powder and mix well until fully dissolved.
- Gently drop the fried vadas into the hot jaggery syrup.
- Let them soak for at least 30 minutes so they absorb the syrup.
- Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy this soulful dessert from Odisha!
