How to Make Rasbara – A Traditional Odia Dessert with a Nutritious Twist

Made with love using Jaggery Powder & Moong Dal

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup yellow moong dal
  • A pinch of salt
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 2 cups water
  • 2–3 green cardamoms
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup Kaadu Organics Jaggery Powder

Recipe:

  1. Soak the yellow moong dal in water for 5–6 hours.
  2. Drain and grind it into a smooth paste without adding any water. Add a pinch of salt to the batter.
  3. Shape the batter into small vadas using your hands or a spoon.
  4. Deep-fry the vadas in hot oil until they turn golden and crisp.
  5. In a separate pan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add cardamoms and a bay leaf for flavor.
  6. Stir in 1 cup of Kaadu Organics Jaggery Powder and mix well until fully dissolved.
  7. Gently drop the fried vadas into the hot jaggery syrup.
  8. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes so they absorb the syrup.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy this soulful dessert from Odisha!
