Restaurant-Style Red Rajma / Kidney Beans Curry | Easy & Flavorful

Preparation of Rajma masala

Ingredients

  1. Red Rajma – 1 cup
  2. Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  3. Sambar Powder – 1 tsp
  4. Oil – 2 tbsp
  5. Mustard Seeds – ½ tsp
  6. Cumin Seeds – ½ tsp
  7. Salt – to taste
  8. Green Chillies – 2 (slit)
  9. Tomato – 1 (chopped)
  10. Onion – 1 (chopped)
  11. Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
  12. Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
  13. Curry Leaves – a few
  14. Coriander Leaves – for garnish

Preparation of Rajma Masala

  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.Serve hot with rice or chapathi.
  • Pressure cook the soaked red rajma for 5 to 6 whistles or until soft. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, and sauté for a few seconds.Add chopped onions and sauté until golden.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell goes away.Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  • Add red chilli powder, sambar powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
  • Mix well and cook for a minute.
  • Add the boiled red rajma along with some of the water used to cook it.
  • Let it simmer for 5–10 minutes so the flavors blend well.
