Preparation of Rajma masala
Ingredients
- Red Rajma – 1 cup
- Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
- Sambar Powder – 1 tsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Mustard Seeds – ½ tsp
- Cumin Seeds – ½ tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Green Chillies – 2 (slit)
- Tomato – 1 (chopped)
- Onion – 1 (chopped)
- Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
- Curry Leaves – a few
- Coriander Leaves – for garnish
Preparation of Rajma Masala
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.Serve hot with rice or chapathi.
- Pressure cook the soaked red rajma for 5 to 6 whistles or until soft. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, and sauté for a few seconds.Add chopped onions and sauté until golden.
- Add ginger garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell goes away.Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
- Add red chilli powder, sambar powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Mix well and cook for a minute.
- Add the boiled red rajma along with some of the water used to cook it.
- Let it simmer for 5–10 minutes so the flavors blend well.
